Bev Jackson taken ill Posted Thursday April 10, 2002 by Johnny

News has just come in that Bev Jackson, of the Americana International, is seriously ill. Apparently Bev has a virus, which has attacked her spinal column and made her totally incapacitated and unable to walk. Everyone here at Firing Line would like to wish Bev a speedy recovery.

A web site has been constructed by John Craven & Jan Stenson where those people who would like to offer their support can send a message straight to the Jackson's which Chris can then print and show to Beverley. Hopefully she will get a much needed lift from our support. Please take a moment to visit the site and sign Bev's 'Book of Love', which will be operational later today.

Deanne's new track with new dance Posted Tuesday February 15, 2002 by Johnny

Deanne is country with attitude, she has a unique voice and sings with heart and soul, she loves to sing new and traditional country making each song her own. Deanne was born and raised in Essex in the UK and grew up listening to country music as her mother loved to listen to Patsy Cline, and Jim reeves in particular. Deanne became very busy as the years progressed working in the clubs and pubs in and around the UK. Over the years Deanne has been working towards her love of Country music and together with the songwriters and musicians that are involved with all of her songs, she feels that the time is now right to pursue a professional Country music career. Cupid is a great track which also comes with a great dance also called Cupid Choreographed by our very own Lorraine, you can find the script in our Dance section. For details on this great new track email deanne.country@btinternet.com or visit their web site at www.deanne.country.btinternet.co.uk/ for a listen.

Waylon Jennings Dies at 64 Posted Tuesday February 15' 2002 by Johnny

Waylon Jennings, one of country music’s most distinctive and independent voices, died Wednesday Feb. 13 2002 at Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, Ariz. He was 64. Jennings had been in ill health with diabetes-related problems. He underwent surgery Dec. 19 at a Phoenix hospital to amputate his left foot, which had become infected because of diabetes. Jennings left the hospital and returned to his home on Jan. 7.

Jennings recorded more than 60 albums and had 16 No. 1 country hits. He joined the Country Music Hall of Fame in October, but did not attend the induction ceremony, sending his son in his place to accept the honor.

"For Waylon it was always about the music,” said RCA Label Group chief Joe Galante Wednesday. “The only spotlight he ever cared about was the one on him while he was on stage. It wasn't about the awards or events. He was an original and a pioneer in terms of creating his own sound. This is a great loss for the music world."

Announcement GARY PERKINS Split Posted Tuesday, January 8, 2002 by Johnny

Announcement From GARY PERKINS & THE BREEZE

Unfortunately, the start of 2002 has not been a good one for the band, after 7 years together Gary has decided to split the band up. This has been a hard decision but because he has been doing so well on the busking side of his career, & the lack of time he has had to spend with his children at weekends, he has decided to call it a day.

No one will be more upset than me to not be playing again for the band, I have loved every minute of it & will miss you all very much. I would personally like to thank you all for supporting us through the years, life definitely will not be the same without you, & thank you for visiting the website, & leaving those great messages.

As for the future I don't know, I would love to continue playing & so would Steve, I have yet to talk to Gareth & Phill regarding their decisions but I do know they have been getting tired of travelling ( isn't it a shame they haven't invented teleporters yet). Maybe, we will be able to get a singer good enough to replace Gary, or maybe we should just take early retirement, at the moment I am in shock, so until I have gathered my thoughts I could not tell you where we go from here. I do know two things though, there is no buzz bigger than being on that stage, & sitting in my studio with all this equipment I soon want to start recording again, if anybody is interested send me an e-mail.

Gary, has cancelled all the gigs after April, & he does want us to continue until then, but I have to be honest here, I personally do not want to, don't ask me why, but when there is no incentive to play, except to see you lot again, I don't think I can do it, but thats just me (being a bit emotional).Oh well, I suppose thats it, once again thank you all for your support over the years, maybe one day we will see you again! Its been one hell of a ride.................

One extremely gutted guitarist Andy.

A sad day for everyone Andy and as one of your biggest fans I can only wish you all the best and who knows there just may be a "Phoenix" in the ashes. Lets hope so for all of your fans and everyone here at Firing Line. Johnny Two Left Feet.
