The Southern Hotshots

Edited & Posted by Johnny Two Left Feet

The Southern Hotshots are a group of about 90 people (and growing rapidly) who come together to enjoy Linedancing. Some of our dancers have been dancing for over 5 years or more.

Our dancers range in age from 5 to 75, are male and female and come from all walks of life.
The most noticable thing people comment on when they meet the Southern Hotshots is the fun aspect. We always enjoy ourselves no matter where we go or what we do.

We love travelling to other venues and mixing with other clubs (there are 7 clubs altogether in Cork), as well as visiting friends in other counties, Limerick-waterford-Dublin-Wexford.

People enjoy the get-togethers for a variety of reasons. Mainly for the dancing, but also for the music, the excercise and of course the oppertunity of meeting a variety of new people.

There are well over 300 Linedancers altogether in Cork, so when we get together we always have a brilliant time, whether we are running charity functions, social functions, picnics, barb-B-Q's or travelling abroad.Linedancing is a great way to bring people together.

I took up line dancing when a class opened up in the sports & social club where I work as bar manager. After just one class I knew I was hooked. 12 months later and I was teaching a class of my own for my original instructor.

1 year later and the Southernhotshots were born and we have been having a blast ever since. There are 7 clubs altogether in Cork and when we all get together we really have a great time. It never fails to amaze me how taking a line dance class can have such a positive effect on a persons life.

I can't think of any thing else which incorporates so much in one activity. Music, dance, social life, solo or with a partner, health benefits, competition, away trips. It truly has it all.

I could not agree with you more, everyone at Firing Line would like to thank you and your team for the great write up and for posting your Top Ten.
